Hilton Hotels Corporation to launch ‘The Hilton Family’ in India : Cheaphotels.net.in provides a wide range of cheap hotels in India at affordable cost. In a bid to strengthen its footprint in the Indian hospitality industry, Hilton Hotels Corporation aims to introduce several Hilton Family brands across market segments. Currently, 21 properties are in the pipeline, which are expected to open in the next three to four years.
Speaking exclusively to Hospitality Biz, Abhijit ‘Beej’ Das, Senior Director of Development - India, Hilton Hotels says, “Our goal in India is to be a prominent international hotel company, and the largest hotel operator in terms of room numbers and hotel chains, in the next five to seven years. This includes the hotels that are operational and those in the pipeline.” As part of a deal announced in 2006, Hilton launched a joint venture company with DLF, which endeavours to open 75 hotels in the next five to seven years under the Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn and ‘Homewood Suites by Hilton’ brands. To date, the joint venture partners have signed management contracts for 17 sites in India. Under this deal, the 116 room Hilton Garden Inn at Saket in New Delhi will be Hilton’s first property in India. It is scheduled to be operational in early 2009.
The group has also entered into a deal to franchise its ‘Hampton by Hilton’ (an economy hotel brand) to Marigold Hospitality, which plans to open 16 Hampton hotels across India. Hilton also has several Hilton hotel and residence projects under construction, which are owned by independent hotel owners in India such as, Hilton Chennai and Shillim Retreat (managed by Hilton). About the company’s modus operandi in the Indian market, Das informs, “We are primarily a management and franchise company. With solid plans to introduce our Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton brands in India, we will also explore opportunities with potential owners for the Doubletree by Hilton, Waldorf Astoria Collection and Conrad brands.”
Hilton Corporation will target the business, leisure, luxury and service segments. Also, the group is on the lookout for renowned developers in the market that possess significant experience in either hotel, commercial or residential construction.
