Hotels in Coorg : Mild Aroma of Coffee plantations, beautiful Hills and lush green rain-forests, all this describe the hill station of Coorg, a small district in Krnataka India. Coorg is famous for the plantations of Coffee, spices like cardamom, clove, black pepper and other spices, honey and oranges. Coorg was formerly called Kodagu. It is a less crowded hill station and can be visited at any tome of the year as the weather here is always pleasant. Coorg is accessible by road from the cities like Bangalore, Mysore, mangalore and districts of Kerela. Nearest aiport is Mysore and it is connected by proper roads to the towns nearby. It is 5 Hr journey from Bangalore. The journey itself is a joy for nature lovers. Abbey Falls is one of the recreation spot, 5Km from Madikeri. The sound of waterfall can be heard from the road. One has to cross a small patch of greenery and rocks to reach the wonderful falls. The location itself is scenic as the water falls into a calm pool below the hills by which it is surrounded. A wooden bridge is built recently to give a better view of the Abbi Falls . Nisargadham is a small island on the highway surrounded by river Cauvery. The River originates at Talakaveri. The island is accessible through a hanging narrow wooden bridge built on the river. It's a perfect picnic spot and a getaway for tourists and localites alike. Bamboo groves, rosewood, sandalwood and teakwood trees give the place a pleasant aura. The recreational activities include joy rides, elephant ride, and enjoying the soft flowing water of Cauvery river. Omkareswar temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. In spite of being crowded, one can experience the serenity of a religious vicinity in tis temple. It is built with an architectural blend of Islamic and Gothic styles. Raja's seat is an awesome sunset point. It has one the most beautiful sunset points in India where one can relish the beauty of western ghats at the most beautiful time of the day, the dusk. Royal family members used to retire here whenever they wanted to enjoy the beauty of nature or a getaway from their tiresome day. The Raja's seat is a tomb built on the top of the hill to commemorate the Kodagu Royal Family. Trip to Coorg is never complete without the shopping of Coffee, honey and the Spices grown here. As these are fresh, the aroma and taste of these can last much more when compared to the spices available anywhere else. Jams and jellies of dry fruits is unique to Coorg.
